Just thought I would throw a problem out there to the "collective mind" and see if I can solicit some ideas. I have brought M23 #017 home from the glass shop after having her topsides and transom regelcoated. Now the work really begins as I must fine-sand and buff all if it to bring it up to "snuff." I also must reattach the toe rail with it's million stainless nuts and bolts. Here lays my question....The old toe rail is coated with alot of old interlux topsides paint blasted on them when the previous owner had the "inspiration" to improve the boats sellability with white topside paint fired from the hip with a $49.00 spray set!...WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN THE RAIL? Do I try to strip it from the millions of holes?...Sandblast it and destroy any remaining anodization? You get the idea. The rails must be preserved as the bolt holes line up with the holes in the hull. Suggestions, thoughts, prayers :) I'm awaiting that brilliant yet obvious solution that has evaded me so far...HA. Question, is the M23 toe rail same material as the old M17,.... perforated aluminum? Wayne ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rmceagrella@aol.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 31, 2006 3:48 AM Subject: M_Boats: Toe rail refurburbishment

Why not use a stripper. Find someone in your area that paints airplanes. Airplanes are usually stripped prior to repainting, and the strippers used are very effective and safe for use on aluminum. Just don't get any of it on your hands, or anywhere on your body! ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rmceagrella@aol.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 31, 2006 4:48 AM Subject: M_Boats: Toe rail refurburbishment

I would try a good liquid paint stripper which shouldn't attack the anodize, just protect your hands and do it outdoors. Dick
