Re: M_Boats: What is best way to quiet mast wires?
For quieting the wires inside the mast, I filled it with styofoam packing peanuts and plugged the ends with a piece from a swim noodle. Works very well and provides floatation in the unlikely event of a turtle. I've heard of others cinching a zip tie around the wires every couple feet and leaving the long tails to press against the inside of the mast, preventing the wires from slapping. Hi All:
Well, we finally re-launched our as yet unnamed Monty 17. She now looks "almost new". Re-rigging is next. As our boat lives in a slip, the wires in the mast frequently create a lot of slapping noise. While the mast is off, I'd like to quiet the wires and have thought of several ways to do it, but would appreciate receiving suggestions from those of you who have done it successfully and inexpensively.
I appreciate all of your replies.
