Do any of you skippers know approx the fuel consumption with 2.3 hp Honda? Thanks Capt Jim M15 Pelican Get Outlook for iOS<https://aka.ms/o0ukef>
Jim. At cruising motor speed, just above 1/2 to 2/3 throttle, the Honda 2/2.3 uses about 1 liter an hour (aka a tank full). My practice is to refill every 45 minutes of runtime and especially just before entering a location where running out of gas would be problematic. If you run the motor dry it is hard to restart. Refilling means the motor will restart with one pull (my experience). The best fuel can setup is having one 1-gallon and a larger 2.5 gallon. The 1-gallon is used to fill the motor. As the one gallon empties transfer fuel from larger to smaller can. Use the No-Spill brand - https://nospill.com Having 3.5 gallons aboard gives you 14 hour range. Use gallons/hour as direction wind/current/waves will increase/decrease range = KPG (knots per gallon) isn't consistent for distance over ground. If you need more range have the large container be a 5-gallon. Store containers at the aft end of the cockpit. NEVER in a locker or below! Use fuel within a month. Older fuel needs to be used in the tow vehicle and/or home power tools. Fresh gas and running the motor _monthly_ are the key to keeping a happy outboard.
