My buddy Dave (the guy that got me started on Montgomerys 20+ years ago) lives down in San Carlos, Mexico. Yes, Jerry...you know what Dave I'm talking about! He has an M15 down there that he loves to sail. But, fall and winter winds can be a bit brisk. So, the other day I got an email and a package. The email was from Dave saying that a package of new custom cut sails for his M15 were on the way to my address from Elliot/ Pattison. And then, as you guessed, the package was the sails. According to Dave they will be his high wind sails. A smaller than normal main and a small working jib, both cut from heavy cloth, I believe he said they are both 6 oz fabric. Of course I'm eating my heart out that right in my yard sits Dauntless, desperately wanting new sails to adorn herself in.... here's a new box of sails...and they're not for her. Dave said he'll be up sometime before fall to pick them up. The box will sit on the shelf until then. So, if you need high wind sails, sounds like Elliot/Pattison already has the numbers and measurements down for a custom set for the M15. Guess we'll have to wait 'till fall for the full report! Good thing Dave doesn't sail an M23.
