Jay, I'm going through the same thing, and just looked at the website Dave recommended, and am now kind of confused. The stock measurements given in the second table show a headstay length of 23' 3 1/2". My headstay, hull no. 633, measures 23" 0", which is a big discrepancy. I just got a new headstay from Furling and Rigging which gives a measurement of 23' 0 1/2", which is close to my actual measurement (certainly within the margin of my measurement error). I also found another website http://www.clrmarine.com/250.html which gives for the Montgomery 17 I=22.0, J=6.6, P=19.0, which doesn't agree with the first table for the standard rig.
