Hi David, I just wanted to let you know that my M15, hull number 500, was built by Jerry Mont. I bought it new back in 1991.
Hey Bud, Thanks for that. Wouldn't it be something to get a fleet of hundreds of Jerry-built M-15s together? Maybe somewhere in the middle of the country. I know the geographic center of the lower 48 states is somewhere in Kansas. But I wonder if there's a body of water nearby big enough to accommodate us all. David and Bud, Yes there is a lake in Kansas that can accommodate everyone. I am a former M17 owner and current member of the Ninnescah Sailing Association at Cheney Lake. Cheney Lake is located about 30 miles west of Wichita and has approximately 9,000 acres (2-3 miles wide at the dam and 10-12 miles navigable up river). There is a 40' by 70' log cabin clubhouse with a great room, a big kitchen and men's and women's restrooms. There are launch ramps with courtesy docks, a public bathhouse, a large shelter house, and campsites with electric hookups. Because of the terrific facilities, it can sometimes get real busy during the summer. Our club has hosted Hobie nationals, Sunfish nationals, Catalina 22 and 25 nationals, and numerous regional events. If you're interested in finding a slot in June, July or August I can find out next spring what the open weekend dates are. If you were to plan a mid-week rendezvous, just about any date would work.
