Good advice. It so happens my wife works at a sign shop that decals lots of cars. They don't bother with the soap; water does fine as a buffer. They line everything up by eye. Of course, they have lots of practice! If you step back and it doesn't look right, just peel it off, backing and all, and realign. A credit card makes a serviceable squeegy. Make a mixture of Dawn dishwashing liquid and water about the consistency of the bubble soap kids use. In fact, the bubble soap right from the bottle would do just fine. Make alignment marks with pencil ahead of time and make sure the marks wont be covered later, with the decal. Paint a good slather of the liquid on the truck (boat) and peel and place the decal. The slippery soap will allow the decal to be moved for a small amount of time so as to center or align. The last step is easy with the Toyota Decal. They supply a flexible plastic squeegee so the soapy water can be squeegeed out from under the properly placed decal. Probably use a soft plastic, pastry spatula for the squeegee, or something like that. Pretty slick huh?
