M17 Idasailor kickup rudder&mast support?
Does anyone have the new Idasailor full kickup rudder for the M17? If so, how do you support the mast during trailering, please? You can see a photo of it at: https://www.idasailor.com/catalog/product_info.php? cPath=45&products_id=466&osCsid=8291e738582bdbd212e710c2708785c9 Regards, --Gary Hyde gmhyde1@mac.com 2005 M17 sailboat #637 'Hydeaway 2' We can't change the wind, but we can trim our sails.
Gary, I have a new Idasailor rudder on my M17, and I just remove it to install the mast support, as with the stock rudder. I can visualize various designs for uprights that clamp over each gudgeon, but I never thought about it until you brought it up. I will have to think about it some more. For older folks like me, pulling off the rudder and stowing it isn't that much fun, and it takes up room in the tow vehicle or bangs around in the cockpit.
