Is there any sailing advantage, other than crew convenience, to moving the traveler aft in my older M17 like the newer boats as opposed to leaving it all the way forward on the cockpit sole? It seems it would have less control over the boom, covering a smaller arc of travel, the farther aft it is mounted. On the other hand, I can see where it would put less stress on the boom and be easier to adjust the further aft it is. Tell me what else I am missing, please. -- Henry https://picasaweb.google.com/heinzir
as the M17 went through production the traveler moved aft to the mid-cockpit location from just at the companionway. the main reason, according to Jerry (though i don't know if he is joking when he says it) is customers wanted easier access to the cabin. my M17 has the mid-cockpit location ... it works just fine for putting in and taking out mainsail twist. -- :: Dave Scobie :: former M15 owner - www.freewebs.com/m15-named-scred :: M17 #375 SWEET PEA - www.m17-375.webs.com On Fri, Jul 24, 2015 at 10:20 AM, Henry Rodriguez <heinzir@gmail.com> wrote:
