Does anyone know where I can order a replacement horn cleat for my main sail down haul? I ordered the smallest cleat available from West Marine but the holes do not line up with the existing cleat. Thanks, Willy Gorrissen M-15
Willy. Can you share a pic of the broken cleat? What is the spacing measurement for the old cleat's fasteners? What brand & model cleat did you order from West Marine? :: Dave Scobie On Sep 5, 2016 12:37 PM, "Willy Gorrissen" <gorrissen@hotmail.com> wrote:

Willy- Those were made off my casting pattern, but unfortunately, the EPA, in it's great wisdom, has long sense otlawed that kind of Sand casting. Something about them increasing carbon emmissions by .0000002%, I think. I might have one of the cleats in a raw casting form; I'll check the next time I go to the shop. You'll have to get it painted or anodized. I believe this is the assymetrical version, and not one of the mooring cleats. -----Original Message----- From: Dave Scobie Sent: Monday, September 05, 2016 12:10 PM To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats Subject: Re: M_Boats: Cleat Willy. Jerry, Thanks for the offer. I ended up drilling a new hole in the tube that the old cleat was secured to and that has worked fine. Willy

David, Thanks for the offer. I just drilled new holes in the backing tube the same size as the West Marine cleat and that seems to work. Willy

Get a cheap caliper from the auto parts store or harbor freight, and get an accurate hole diameter and hole spacing measurement. Then you can go to the different sailboat hardware company websites, download there full catalog, and see what matches. You could also try contacting the people at Duckworks (duckworksbbs.com) and see if they stock something with the measurements. Tyler, Thanks for the advice. I ended up using the old backing tube and drilling a new hole in it matching up with the new cleat. Willy
