Re: M_Boats: Main slugs vs mast opening
For under $10 you can buy a purpose made "track stop" that fits inside the slot and keeps the slugs in. Any marine supply can get one. It has a thumbscrew for easy removal to hank sails on or off. If you want to see several go to the westmarine dot com web site and put the keyword sail track stop in their search window. Another way is to drill a small hole through each side of the slot and insert a cotter pin in to bridge the slot. Bill P. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Yes, I've used a sail stop, but the slot opening on my M17 is too high for reefing with to stop in place. Also, those stops tend to end up in the water now and then! --Gary Hyde 2005 M17 sailboat #637 'Hydeaway 2' We can't change the wind, but we can trim our sails.
