Re: M_Boats: Replacing Main sheet system
Developed? No, I just selected the parts and decided where to install it. Harken has several systems available. You should shop around if you're interesting in a windward sheeting car. I got mine on sale several years ago and I've heard you can beat the suggested retail price if you search enough. On Thu, 10 Mar 2011 12:01:16 EST SALGLESSER@aol.com writes:
Hi Larry,
Thanx much for the info and link. You've done some very nice stuff on corn dog. An inspiration as well as a good information source.
That's a very nice, simple track system. Is that something you developed?

I should specify, you don't need to release the off side cleat manually when drawing the car to windward. It does that automatically. Only when you want to lower that track from the high side do you need to release it manually.

Thanks, Larry, that's a solution worth looking into. The picture
helps a lot. Did you ever think of mounting turning blocks on the vertical face of the cockpit at the ends of the track? I assume that the track also needs to be replaced?

It is very easy to move to windward, even when the sail is fully
loaded
and the mainsheet is tight. You can also rig the car 2:1 if you
feel the
need. It's designed for it. I've never needed it.

Larry,
How easy is it to pull the car all the way to the windward end of the track when the upward angle of the line looks to be pretty big?
Thanks,
