RE: M_Boats: re: Klabautermann VS the EPA
No, I agree. I loved Clinton. He left office with a huge surplus which these jokers are squandering. Bush said it, I don't have time the think and ponder about stuff. He is like a bacteria that knows only to produce toxins and reproduce. I have never before in my life would become nauseas when a president would speak to explain issues to the public. "Just wait..." was only a reference to the good and thorough environmental work that the Democrats did as opposed to the pure business focused administration we now have. Now, just wait 'til Dr. Rice becomes president. Think about that nightmare. As for me, I need to finish off the details on this sailboat not worry about the NeoCons who think God is on their side and their side only. Today's news is about the female White House Press Corps reporter who dared to ask a "pointed question" of our King, I mean president. The question referred to Paul Wolfowitz (sp?) being appointed to the world bank. He campaigned for the war in Iraq as a service to the president. If in a fictionalized story of war over resources brought on by a large and powerful western democracy are not today's headlines the way it would be written? If I wanted your oil and you lived in another country would I not say that I was fighting for my country, for democracy, for freedom? This is the same thing as VietNam......it is a war of resources. In VietNam it was for boxite, manganese, and oil, the offshore kind. Sorry, I got started again. Like someone said about the White House Press Corps, why should they hire a paid prostitute? Because it would be redundant! Have a good day. ------L My anger started when Bush became president and Gore let us down. And I wonder, am I alone? FYI, while we are on the topic, just in case someone gets in your face someday.
BTW: I am not a lawyer.
Activists have been photographing the fuel docks in Key West. According to the attorney who witnessed this, the federal fine is $5,000 for a fuel spill. He said those providing evidence may be rewarded with half the fine.
Activists have challenged boaters at Kentucky Lake over leaky fuel hoses. What hose does not leak somewhere?
People go to the shore to have a good time. The definition of a good time seems to vary widely.
There was a time when activists focused on industrial facilities. Industry has either closed down or cleaned up. You would think that would make them happy.
The worse public a** chewing I ever had was at an seminar by a senior EPA official who was mad about pollution from power plants. She was upset because we had reduced it. We cut pollution quicker than we had to, made bigger cuts than were required, and did it at less cost than originally estimated. The air was cleaner, the lights stayed on, and this political appointee was livid. I am convinced that many of these activists have a social or political agenda that goes beyond clean air and water.
Federal law prohibits the discharge of virtual everything into waterways. There is no quantity threshold. A sheen is sufficient evidence for conviction. States may set stricter limits than US law. States are usually mandated to enforce federal environmental regulations, so the enforcement may vary.
Animal, vegetable or mineral, accidental or intentional, the law is the law.
You may curse the EPA. I prefer to contemplate job security. Some days it is the only thing that keeps me going.
So, any one done any sailing yet?
