Bill My M15 came with two sets of jiffy reefing points. I had Jerry have the second set added before he delivered the boat to me. It looks like your reefing system is as clean as they get. Can you please give me a list of what I need to buy, with the best size and length to buy, so I can switch my reefing system to make it like yours. I'm not sure I understand why you don't have to lash the main sail down after putting in a reef. Is there any chance of you sending me some photos? My email address is jaczoey@yahoo.com Do you plan on attending any of the rendezvous? I hope our paths cross at one of them in Maine or the San Juan rendezvous. I've never been so anxious for spring to arrive! Thanks again for your help. Fair winds Bud M15 #500 --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Bud, I would like to direct you to the info Doug Kelch posted a few days ago, including a link to pictures. His arrangement is more complete than mine. The reefing setup on my boom is original and rigged for only one set of reef points, even though I have two sets on my new mainsail. That means I have to re-thread the single reefing line to use the deeper cringle with the same blocks and cleat when I go to the deeper reef. I don't reef so much that it has been a problem so far, and I don't mind having less gear on my boom. I still have to gather up the sail and tie the two mid-boom lines around the boom. Here is Doug's message from Jan 9: ==================================================================== "On an earlier posting some one had asked about my boom hardware layout. I put up 8 pictures at the funtigo site below. This configuration is not as it comes from the factory and may not work for you...... :-) It is merely provided to stimulate your own ideas. http://www.funtigo.com/dkelch?b=215326&p=start&c=1802951 The base site if the above link doesn't get there is: dkelch.funtigo.com and then select the M15 rigging album. Thanks Doug" ====================================================================== Good Luck, Bill Riker M15 - #184 Storm Petrel -----Original Message----- From: montgomery_boats-bounces+wriker=mindspring.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:montgomery_boats-bounces+wriker=mindspring.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Bud Sent: Thursday, January 13, 2005 1:12 PM To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Subject: M_Boats: M15 reefing...Bill Riker Bill My M15 came with two sets of jiffy reefing points. The small reefing hook from Dwyer is new this fall and I haven't actually used it yet. Prior to this arrangement I rigged two lines (one for each reef point) from the downhaul pad eye through the reefing points to a cleat added to the mast for these and the the flag halyard. I have only used the 2nd reef for 1 three day period in 6 years. The two lines have now been eliminated and I will use the one hook twice if necessary. I will keep both lines on the leech as I keep the sail on the boom all of the time and they don't get in the way of anything else. Doug Kelch "Seas the Day?" --- "William B.
