I'm a backpacker, so I appreciate Connie's galley tool box, but I'm going down the slide-in galley road because for my purposes the port berth is too short to be useful for sleeping, but super as a seat/galley combo. I like the idea of being able to move the whole shooting match outside and bridge the cockpit seats Todd (I think that's the idea from the illustration...), move it ashore for beach camping, or even leave it home during a day sail. I second Gary's suggestion that we make this an ongoing discussion... T Tom Smith & Jane VanWinkle M15/345--Chukar M17/496--Unnamed
Sounds perfect, Tom ... As a sail camper who would backpack if he weren't disabled and on crutches, someone whose sailboat is his conveyance into the wilderness where his legs won't take him, I very much like the idea of bringing the backpacking ethos to small boat cruising ... One consideration some are leaving out of the discussion of John and Brooke's galley is that it's REALLY BEAUTIFUL ... Wonder if a the mobile galley could be made pretty enough to enhance the cabin the way John and Brooke's fixed galley does ... --Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: Tom Smith To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats Sent: Thursday, August 18, 2005 12:58 PM Subject: RE: M_Boats: Galley of Jtb I'm a backpacker, so I appreciate Connie's galley tool box, but I'm going down the slide-in galley road because for my purposes the port berth is too short to be useful for sleeping, but super as a seat/galley combo.
