Al, The box ones from the company link I have seen rust up so they cannot be extended so if you go this route get a galvanized one. I had a 4 foot one made at a local welding shop which just fits in the back of my 4 runner. It replaces the short piece that slides into the reciever in the car. Al, I had a local welding shop make me a nice 7 1/2 foot extension for my M15's Trail-Rite. They cut off the original coupler, welded a short square tube at the end into which the new extension, with a new coupler on the end, slides. A standard receiver pin holds it in close for trailering and when I'm ready to go into the water I pull the pin, slide the extension out and pin it on the other end. So now I can launch at low tide and on shallow ramps without getting the truck wheels wet. Takes a little longer since I have to lower the front trailer wheel to take the weight off the extension as I slide it out. At least I can sail instead of watch. Another benefit is that the new tongue slides completely out when I get home and gives me an important extra foot in the garage. The tongue stores nicely out of the way on the trailer frame with no worries about it rusting in place (as I have often heard of with other sliding extensions.). Hope this helps.
