Like many of you, Ive been having trouble with over-wrapping on the CB winch. Last week I had it wrapped so badly that I had to disassemble the winch to clear the problem. I asked here last year and the response was, Yes it does that. Last week we took a field trip to Minnies http://www.minneysyachtsurplus.com/. While rummaging through the bins I found a circular aluminum wedge. It appeared to be the about the same diameter as the winch base, and tapered from ¼ to ½. I was guessing that it would be about right to align the winch drum more nearly perpendicular to the pendant, so I bought it ($0.50) Over the weekend I installed the wedge under the winch. The new feed angle from the pendant to the drum is very close to 90 degrees now and looked much better. We took the boat out to the local mud puddle for a test sail on Tuesday and I am happy to report that we didnt have any problems with over wraps at all. J Earl Landers M17 Zoomer
Good fix, Earl. A fair lead will help almost anything work better... t On Thu, Jun 7, 2012 at 8:16 AM, Earl Landers <elanders@bak.rr.com> wrote:
