Howard, For what it's worth.... I think the problem is with the knotmeter. The transducer has a small propeller or paddlewheel sticking out in the water stream. As the boat moves, it makes the paddlewheel or propeller turn, which sends the unit a signal that tells you how fast you are going. If you leave that transducer hanging out in the air, and then drive over the road at 60 MPH, the poor transducer will be reving like crazy, hour after hour. .....and no water to lubricate the bearing. No wonder that they quit working! My recommendation would be to retract them into their housing; or if this is not possible, remove them prior to road transport (just remember to put them back in place before launching the next time!)
