It has been related to me it was sometime in the late 80's. The point of whether is is more detrimental for a fiberglass hull to sit in saltwater vs freshwater has been hashed about over the years as well. I still have no idea what the answer is. I had pock marks and minor blisters on my M17 hull when I got her in '96. I did a bottom job myself to see first hand what a pain it is. Sanding fiberglass is a nasty job. I applied 8 coats of Interprotect 2000 then 2 coats of Micron CSC. The M23 has Awlgrip on it's hull. I follow your thinking on keeping a trailerable even if you have a "transportable" larger sailboat. That is what I have in mind for my M17. My pipe dream is to have the M23 in Minnesota, and the M17 in the Keys for my "snowbird" winter getaways............someday soon. Later, Bones >> Hi Bones, Thanks for the reply. I found out yesterday that the '89 Flicka that I had decided to buy sold on Friday (I already had plane reservations). Given what I have been through over the past few months trying to buy a Flicka, I am not sure I whether I will pursue further. You did the right thing with the bottom job. I did the same thing (less the Micron) on my M15 keel (not because of any blistering, but to fill/fair the centerboard opening). So many people only apply a couple of coats of the 2000/2001, when everything that I have heard/been told suggests that you should really end up with 20 mils. 7-8 coats should get you there. Good luck with the "snowbird" plan. Sounds like the way to go! Scott
