Re: M_Boats: Pacific Trailer for a 23' -might be fals alarm but...
Cool...good luck. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help out. :-) The guys at Pacific were pretty good to me when I worked with them. Hopefully you will have the same outcome. looking at your axle.... did they change the 23's trailer to a torsion axle too? I think that would be a HUGE improvement and was very impressed with the M17 trailer that had it.
Thank you. Really appreciate it! . Yes - it has a torsion axle. Hi all - Just a quick update. Got the boat trailer thing figured out. We (the boat yard) lifted the boat (took the pressure off the bunks) unbolted the 3 middle upright supports, and then let the boat back down were the keel was able to rest in the keel bunk. This allowed me to get it back to The Pacific Trailer yard in Newark about 1 hour away. Side note: Also, We lowered the mast in the boatyard using the two SS cables that (original and came with the boat) to connect the triangular plates at the shrouds to the end of the boom. Connected the jib halyard to the end of the boom. Used the main sheet and lowered it forward. Very controlled and no swaying from side to side. Easy as pie....just like Jerry said it was. I towed it to the Pacific trailer yard where they made the final adjustments. They put a slight bit of upward pressure (with a jack, I think) and raised up each upright, re-drilled and through-bolted it. The boat seems to sit soundly on the trailer and the bunks now curve to hug the hull nicely. While at Pacific, I pointed out to the guys that the winch stand seemed low. They swapped it out for a taller beefier one. They also installed my tongue extension while there. Towed it back to Sacramento (about 2 hours) and it tows really well and better than I expected. Felt safe and in control at curves and breaking. We got things sorted out and I am happy with the end result. Thanks for the input and help! See attached photo. Hi Todd, great progress on the clean up! I took a quick look at the photos and it appears in the photo that you have some leaking above the port light? May just be the photo but that would be a different fix. I am going through rebedding my deck hardware with polybutyl caulk. I found quite a few leaks this summer while sleeping on board during rains. Including one at the mast step/tabernacle. Nice to hear about the mast lowering. putting the triangles back in my new standing rigging is on the list for the winter as when I had them rebuilt I could not figure out their purpose and had them left out. but I still have them around. You have a great boat! Thanks for sharing. Robbin M-23 On 9/9/2013 1:10 PM, Todd Bradley wrote:
