Scary story. I have wondered if there is a radar warning receiver available. Or even better a radar transponder. Would that be legal? steve Steve R. M-15 #119
there is a thing called C.A.R.D. which is basically a radar detector that is set to detect marine radar (not the same as police radar). but I'd expect that is pretty expensive for our little vessels. I think the police radar use a different band, (set of frequencies) ----- Original Message ----- From: <htmills@bright.net> To: <stever@mail.saabnet.com>; "'For and about Montgomery Sailboats'" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 12:51 PM Subject: RE: M_Boats: re: can not be seen on small radar there is a thing called C.A.R.D. which is basically a radar detector that is set to detect marine radar (not the same as police radar). but I'd expect that is pretty expensive for our little vessels. yes! there are several different radar reflectors , some fold up and can be stored flat, available Davis company is rated as one of the best, but a radar transponder may be illegal (radio wave transmission licensing) Just got two email off the group, first one says that the type of radar used to detect planes and aim artillery in 2nd world war is no longer used, but yes, they did use small strips of metal foil 3 by 14 inches approximately to fool the detectors, it was just enough reflection to confuse the aiming of the anti-aircraft guns. 2nd email says that there is a one sided sticky tape that has little bumps that are pyramid shaped that is used to HELP increase (but not guaranteed) it needs to be 3 by 36 inches to be affective, and there is a American flag made with metal foil that is good at radar reflection. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve R." <stever@mail.saabnet.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 12:47 PM Subject: M_Boats: re: can not be seen on small radar
