M9 at $700...is it a good price?
Since I'm thinking I'll be mooring Griselda (M17) in Mission Bay (only about $650 a year or so), I've been looking at the M dinks. I found this one: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/boa/2236276096.html It seems a bit steep, even at $700 (which is what he'll take for it). I've seen a couple for sale for $500 and the guy on here just sold the M10 for $450. What does everyone think?
Seems like a good price to me. I bought my M-10 for $950 but it had also been professionally refinished (gel coat) which cost quite a bit and has a custom cover. I provided the trailer. Anyway, it depends on comps (you can look at what has sold and for about how much on Sailing Texas) and the condition of the boat. These are really great boats and compared to something like the Fatty Knees which sell on ebay all the time are very reasonably priced and have an impeccable lineage to boot! Jeremy, That's a pre Montgomery Montgomery built by Aurther Marine, they are out of the same mold but not put together the same way. a dink of similar size - a good condition kent ranger / rick passage MINTO (a lapstrack 9' sailing dinghy) goes for $1000 to $1500 USED in the seattle area. you can find one every now and again for $500-$700 in poor condition without the sailing rig. like the m-dinks a MINTO does not come on the market all that often. $700 for a good condition, though in this case, pre-M-dink boat doesn't seem out of line IMO. :: Dave Scobie :: M17 #375 - SWEET PEA - www.m17-375.webs.com :: still looking for a M6'8" needing some TLC & a good home :: Sage Marine - www.sagemarine.us --- On Wed, 3/23/11, Bowman, Jeremy <JeremyBowman@my.unt.edu> wrote:
