Boat "Merry Helen II" a Montgomery 15' on Pine Lake in La Porte IN I may trailer it to other inland lakes during the season. Sailed yesterday with friend Louie Hamlin who purchased my Pearson 23 and took it down to his home in Gulfport, FL Winds mostly out of the West variable @2-8 knots gusting up to 13 knots Max. Great Sunny day 81 deg. only 2nd sail of season as weather has been very wet. Plan on getting in many more but will have to be during week as lake is a frenzy of speedboat/skiers/skidoos etc on weekends starting on Fridays. George, I agree, I try to sail my M-15 during mid-week rather than weekends to avoid frenzy of speedboat/skiers/skidoos etc on weekends starting on Fridays. Have also noticed that most of those folks seem to have no idea about the notion a boat under sail has right of way over a boat under power. 'We Can Not Control the Wind
But We Can Adjust our Sails'
Steve Our lake in Indiana is a Chicago Weekend lake that really fills up on Friday. Today was raining lightly and I thought of going out but took a pass. I will wait till after Monday as it being Fathers Day some will be extending the weekend. Our lake is primarily a fishing (early a.m. & late eve) and speed craft mid day on. I am only one of half a dozen at most sailing on the lake. I am hoping to trailer to Lake Wawasee East of me about 70 mi. it is approx 10 mi. long x 3 mi. wide and has many sailboats. George, Some times life does seem fair, I watched the Harbor Patrol boat with its blue lights flashing stop one of the speedboats that was making a frenzy this weekend (would that be hailed and hove to?) then a guy in a blue uniform and orange PFD from the Harbor Patrol boat passed over a yellow piece of paper that looked a lot like a ticket. Score a point for the boys in blue and orange PFDs on the Harbor Patrol boat.
