My question about standing rigging refers to the Monty 17. I installed reef hardware, outhaul and topping lift hardware this weekend and was able to test it all in 12- 17 mph winds. I'm looking at a boom kicker to go along with a vang. Does anyone have experience with the boom kicker? My one concern with this gooseneck not being fixed to the mast. I ordered a trackstop from West Marine to keep the boom from falling down when reefing. But I think a sliding gooseneck is not compatible with the boomkicker On May 13, 2017 11:00 AM, <montgomery_boats-request@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:

Hi guys I am working on a boat that has quite a bit of teak. I just got it and do not know what the previous owner used. He sent all his supplies and they included Cetol and varnish. I want to go with just varnish as this is a traditional boat and varnish is my preference. I have used Cetol and I know if works well. My question is if Cetol was used how to I tell? And if it was used I am inclined to strip it with a heat gun and start from bare wood. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cetol usually has an orange 'tinge'.
You wrote you inherited a can of Ceto. Which version?
Also, what is the brand and version for the varnish?

Hi Dave the Cetol was natural and then the clear coat. Not exactly sure as I donated the cans to the local "for free" bin at the marina.
He has the Interlux Schooner varnish which I like.
Thanks Dave! Robbin

I tried the boom kicker but had a problem with keeping it from popping out of the integral mast track. Reinforcing it, or permanently fixing it to the aft side of the mast, would have interfered with raising & lowering the mast. There’s probably a solution to this but I chose to send it back (restocking fee) and live without it. Otherwise, the boom kicker looked to be well made. My M-17 is a 2007 with the Dwyer mast and boom. - Jim M-17 “Spirit"

Does anyone have a PHRF number for a 17? Our crew member for the Ultimate 20 that I've been racing on has hurt himself, so we thought that we'd throw the Montgomery into the fleet.
I have a PHRF rating of 294 from PHRF of the Chesapeake. Rick M17 #633 Lynne L On Mon, May 15, 2017 at 8:31 PM, Thomas Howe <Thomas@thomashoweonline.com> wrote:
