Re: M_Boats: How was the San juans???
Ok you guys/gals, I can't take it anymore! Someone post something about how the San Juan Trip went!!! ;-)
Sean
Oh, it was OK. <grin> We had a great trip. Here are the basic facts. 8 boats, 11 people, 190 nm travelled, about 70% sailing, good weather (cool, but not much rain), Orca sightings twice right beside the boats, otters, seals, raccoons, eagles, dolphins, salmon, starfish, oysters, clams, etc, etc,.... gorgeous sunsets, brisk mornings, a mix of marinas and secluded anchorages, great companions, beautiful hikes with outstanding views, dockwalkers ogling the Montgomerys, (Mark and Roberta were ready to post a sign on their M23 at Friday Harbor to answer all the questions), a yacht broker in Anacortes saying "Those are the best boats in the marina." (a marina with million dollar yachts), meals at fancy restaurants and canned stew in the boat, one night at anchor in winds gusting around 40+, and sailing that varied from ghosting along in barely a drifter to pounding to windward against a stiff wind and rough breaking waves. And thanks, Sean, for donating a pair of hats and mugs for door prizes for the opening night dinner. They were a big hit. Hopefully more stories to follow. Larry

Bill: We are intending to send our photos to Randy Graves and he will accumulate and post them. I have about 50 but will weed out some. --Gary Hyde Pullman, WA gmhyde1@mac.com M17 #637 'Hydeaway 2' "...There's nothing quite like messing about in boats..."
