I read with interest the recent thread about small boat sailing in the San Diego area. Lynn and I will be picking up our new M15 (#616 "Cat's Paw") at Bob Eeg's factory in mid-April(!) We are considering a maiden voyage on Mission Bay, possibly putting in at Dana launch ramp and staying over a few nights (anchored in Mariner's Basin or at a guest slip somewhere), and exploring the bay while we get acquainted with the new boat. Any additional comments, tips or experiences? Are there likely to be a lot of speedy craft in the bay this time of year (we'd be mid-week)? Is there any kind of security in the public boat launch parking lots (for overnight tow vehicles w/trailer)?
