Reluctantly, my M-17 is for sale. http://sailingtexas.com/201101/smontgomery17120.html Mark House Durango, CO
This is a great time of the year here in NC to get out on the water. I'm looking for other Monty's that would like to do some sailing. I live in Atlantic Beach, not far from Beaufort. Anybody out there?? Joe SeaFrog M17 #651
Joe, Wish I was out your way. Beaufort is a nice area. Was there just once and really liked it. West end of Lake Ontario will do for this wknd. Bill Wickett Makin' Time M17 #622 On 9/15/11, Joe Murphy <seagray@embarqmail.com> wrote:

Joe-- I'm trying to put together a 1-2 night cruise over Columbus Day Weekend )Sunday to Monday or Tuesday). Area is either Albemarle Sound/Elizabeth City or the lower Nuese River/Clubfoot/South River/Turnagain Bay/Long Bay. On 9/15/11, Joe Murphy <seagray@embarqmail.com> wrote:

Mike, Great Idea!! I'm familiar with the Nuese River/Clubfoot/South River areas. From there it's a great sail over to Oriental. The South River has great anchorage areas as is Back Creek off of Adams Creek or Clubfoot (I have friends there) I've not yet been to Turnagain Bay or Long Bay. I have friends that live down east and I've asked them for some 'local' knowledge of the area. Hi Joe-- It turns out that I'll only have time for a one night trip on the Columbus Holiday. With only one night, Turnagain Bay is probably too far. If you are still interested I could meet you at either the Highway 101 bridge over the ICW or at the mouth of Adams Creek. I haven't had a chance to visit Clubfoot Creek or sail into Hancock Creek next to Cherry Point NAS. I've seen Hancock from shore and there is a small sheltered anchorage there. Let me know if this works for you. Cheers, Mike Murphy On 9/22/11, Joe Murphy <seagray@embarqmail.com> wrote:

At the foot of the 101 bridge over the ICW is Bock Marina. I'm not sure whether they have a launch site. If you tell me where you're driving from I can start looking at easy places for you and I to meet. Next week I'll be sailing around teh SE part of the Pamlico. Depending on wind conditions we'll either head to Oriental or Ocracoke. I'll trailer to Atlantic to meet two other s/v's. If we head towards Oriental and you're still able to get away I may leave my boat in Clubfoot Creek and we could meet at Matthews Point. Give me a call as time gets closer at 252-240-1085. Mike, Did you ever get your Columbus Holiday sail in? I trailered SeaFrog to Atlantic and joined two other sailboats the previous week. The squeeters were like a snow storm. Spread my DNA all over Core Sound. Had a nice overnighter. I still can't get all rigged up and launched in less than two and a half hours. But I had to allow extra time for hooking up all the shrouds and stays that I took off during Irene. launched at Sea Gate arina on the ICW and went north to the Nuese. Friends of mine sailed back from Ocracoke and said they had 15+ winds out on the Sound. Only had 5-6 knots for part of the day On 10/22/11, Joe Murphy <seagray@embarqmail.com> wrote:

Tip of the day..... This is for those of you living out of an ice cooler and like to take various snacks that you don't want getting water logged. I picked up a waterproof plastic fishing tackle box that measures about 9X12X3 with removable sections. I can put in a couple of days worth of sliced cheese, salami, grapes, celery sticks, carrots, etc in individual compartments and voila. It stays cool, dry and just like out of the fridge. Much easier that a bunch of zip lock bags and it serves as it's own serving tray... Joe SeaFrog M17
