Bill, What is the financial burden to maintain the site?I'd like to see it stay active. Any way that is possible? Kendall
Hi, The cost to keep it published for the next 12 months will run right at $360.00. There would be no "what's new", "Donations" "Contact me" or "links" page. With my new project I'll have limited Internet use (E-mail) for the next year or maybe more. This means I wont be able to fix links. In addition; The site photo limit has been reached. In order to continue with more photos I would have to turn all of the Maintenance pages into PDF files. Or, open a sub-site (more money) linked from the current site. Either way, it's not doable. Bill, Sorry to see your having to back away from the picture site. You really did a nice job with that. I wonder, how much space does that all take? Do you know? How tough would it be to move it? Could/would anyone else on the list be willing to maintain it if there was a host for it? It would be a real shame to see all your hard work go to waste. I downloaded the site, but Bill has found a supporter, so the site will stay up for another year at least. I was willing to host the Montgomery related content on my site at montgomeryowners.com (with original copyright holder's permission, of course). That was only about 250 MB if you optimized it. Bill has a lot of related content on the site that eats up more disk space, but I was mainly concerned about the content the users uploaded and that I could get clear permission to post. Hi Rick, In answer to your question, Bob Eeg and I are working on a solution to the Photo Site and it's contents. So, no help is needed quite yet. My belief is there will be a solution before to long. Thanks for the offer to help, it's as always appreciated. Another thing you may not yet be aware of Rick. The Trailer Sailor site has recently added Montgomery to the list of Forums. Not only a forum but photo posting with the message. I used to frequent the Potter area when I had my P15 years ago and it was great (the site - not the boat). I just re-introduced myself on the Monty forum.
