Thanks! It does, indeed, have MMP on the transom. I was worried that the bowpiece and cleats would not support the weight. There are no good solid rafters in the garage. In fact, it doesn't look like they brace up against studs in the walls. I'll take your advice on blocking it and I'll get some 2x4s to help support the weight on the rafters. Are there any good strongpoints for jacking up a M15? Also, how big of contact points should I have with the hull?

I would like to get it up off the trailer to put the Prime coat on it and creating a frame in the garage to support the weight seems a bit untenable - perhaps it'd be simpler than jacking it up! In moving around the boat on the trailer with by standing up under it (I'm still kinda young...) it seems there are some areas that flex quite a bit more than others. Perhaps this is a sign of something else...

Thanks Bob! I've got most of the sanding done now, just have to finish up fiberglassing over various scrapes and dents in the hull. My main concern with hoisting up the boat is the bow piece. The tip of the bow (where the bow piece attaches) was damaged pretty badly somehow and I can see the material between the hull and deck <refer to these pictures <http://picasaweb.google.com/Chris.R.Smith/BoatProgress#>>. I've got some idea of how I can patch the nose, (carving the shape out of fine styrofoam and then fiberglassing over that, then a little gasoline to dissolve the foam) but I don't know how well it will hold or if there are other issues involved in the joint between the hull and deck. Heh, yes, yes it is. The boat itself has a pretty amazing story of survival and travel over land.. I live in Minneapolis, MN. The short story of my M15 is that it came from Texas to a gov't salvage yard in Bismarck, ND as a heavily damaged, bare bones hull full of styrofoam flotation. My father and I picked it up, patched the holes as best we could (which you can see from the pictures), got the closest approximation we could find to original spec. hardware (mast, boom, tiller/rudder, etc) and brought her back to life. I've been sailing and caring for her for the past 4 or so years and have loved having the opportunity to do so. A new nose piece would be an amazing prize for me and Persephone! My address is: 3627 14th ave S Minneapolis MN 55407 I would certainly be willing to pay shipping costs, if necessary, to have such a gift! I'm certain that you see my glassing ability and perhaps attaching it is, indeed, beyond my skill; but if there's any chance I could do it, I'd like to. I will, though, trust your judgement and will have a fiberglass man do it - and look over his shoulder if possible. ;) Oh, and I'm not worried about the color not matching! I got some instruction on painting the hull from Jerry and have been working towards that with the eventual goal of painting the topside as well (somewhere down the road). But that's another goal, completely. Speaking of the topside, how is the mast been attached in the M15? I had to make a new mast mount and didn't think to put a plate under the deck to help stabilize it and keep the bolts from pulling through. I've currently got a square of stainless steel that I would like to put underneath, but if there is a better way... Thanks again for the help!
