I'm of the firm belief that a boat will name herself. Sometimes for a new-to-you boat that is the name she already has. I renamed my M15. I kept the name of my M17 even though I wasn't a game if it when I bought the boat, but what I immediately began to call her - she told me what she wanted. What calls to you? How do you refer to the boat? If you rename be sure to follow these instructions - https://48north.com/1987/06/01/tbt-vigors-interdenominational-boat-denaming-... :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: SV SWALLOW - sv-swallow.com :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - www.freewebs.com/m15-named-scred/ On Tue, Sep 10, 2019, 8:11 AM James Hymes <jamesehymes@gmail.com> wrote:

I tend to agree with what Dave posted...what calls you, or what's the boat telling you? It may take listening for a while. I am currently 'listening' for a name for the El Toro dinghy I'm refurbishing (it never had one, so I don't need the de-naming ceremony). People make suggestions but most of them are a clear 'no'. In that vein, there's a saying - "If it's not a clear yes, it's a no" - in case that's helpful. The Ensenada 20 I had for a short time came without a name. I was thinking of naming her "Sloop John Be" but then found my Monty. The folks I sold her to named her "Stella Blue" after having her a little while (she has light blue hull) and it seemed to fit. All that said...the only one that jumps at me from your list is "Shooting the Breeze" - which just means I could imagine having a boat with that name, it may not be a fit for yours! cheers, John On 9/10/19 8:10 AM, James Hymes wrote:

Well, "Short Bus" made me laugh, but I think some would find that offensive. The name that occurs to me is "Jaune Fille." Obviously a play on jeune fille and not grammatically exact French. Might come too close to violating the rule that names should be easy to understand over the radio, though. -----Original Message----- From: montgomery_boats <montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com> On Behalf Of Burton Lowry Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2019 5:38 PM To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Subject: Re: M_Boats: Name for my boat - Votes needed Sunshine.
