Updates on Havasumontgomerys
The Bottom Paint/Blister Job/Swing Keel Refurb/Ballast Replacement is done!!! Thanks to everyone that shared ideas on how to accomplish all this. I posted a few new pics of Dauntless sporting her new bottom paint and boot stripe (although the boot stripe is not quite finished). We are getting ready to take her to the coast on the 24th of next month. Plan is to repeat the Channel Islands sail that we did a couple of months ago out to Anacapa Island. Norm Bundeck is going to join us and we hope to accompany the SoCal Potters on their trip out to Anacapa. (More boats always equals more fun!) We aren't going to quite make the goal of Aug 1 for a splash in the lake to do a shakedown, but we aren't going to miss it by much. You can check out the pics at www.havasumontgomerys.funtigo.com and go to the bottom of the Bottom/Blister/Swing keel page.
Hey Sean, Great job as always! It is rare that a project of this magnitude has been documented this well and with the open-ness to share both successes and failures (of which there have been few). Look forward to news of the payoff in several weeks. I had asked for Monday off as the weather has dipped below a hundred for a few days and I wanted to take an overnight on the boat. However, when I got to the lake, the monsoon thunderstorms were hanging over the Bradshaw Mountains toward the north end of the lake. Long story short-I decided to nock the boat down and take it back to the shop to repaint the trailer during the month of August. BTW, the South dry storage lot at Lake Pleasant was quite the scene of carnage with several boats dumped off their trailers in the lot. Those summer storms can create quite a ruckus.
