fellow montgomery owners: i just purchased a 1984 M15 (HIN: MMP2880684 ... yes, the number is odd). i have contacted j.montgomery about the strangely formatted hull number and he says, "secretarial error." she is of cream hull and topside with a blue line running along the hull/cabin line. i am a long time tristen jones fan and as a result i love to know the history of boats ... the travels of his SEA DART, and her eventual arrival in idaho made me one for knowing where a boat 'has traveled.' i am interested to know my 'new' M15's travels before she came to live in my driveway. i have deduced the following: *her name for many years has been PATO. she was owned for the last 4 years by dennis who lives north of seattle. dennis didn't change her name when he purchased her from a gentleman living in reno, NV. *i have found records on PATO showing her prior outboard motor was purchased at the santa cruz, CA, west marine in march of 1990. (her current motor is a 2005 2-horse honda.) *while i was removing removing PATO from her transom (i graduated from WA St. U. and a boat named 'duck' will not do) i noticed that another name could be seen from just the correct angle - DANCER. so ... was DANCER in santa cruz prior to going to reno? *at one time this M15 was rigged for a spinnaker ... i have all the lines, pole, and in a box the hardware for the mast. even a second set of tracks are in this box that were attached to her toe-rails (i found the patched screw holes when cleaning and teak oiling the bright-work). so i put out this request to all long time members of this listproc, or those that have known many an M1: do you know any history and/or for M15 #288 (let it be known there is another M15 numbered 288). lots of information above that may not be clear, so thanks much for reading. dave s.
