Giles, My M-15 came with a stainless steel tubing mast crutch that is approx 36" long and sits in the rudder gudgeons and supports the mast in a parallel attitude, (with the mast base riding on top of the winch tower.) It fits into a 9 foot high shop door with room to spare. I doubt that I could bend the crutch without really trying, it feels pretty hefty. I wonder about (1)transporting the mast with all the weight on the gudgeons, and (2) transporting with the mast half on the trailer and half on the boat. Sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread, things have been busy. Harvey & Deena H M-15 #348 PELICAN Walla Walla, WA

I have a metal tubing mast crutch that has two positions, and find it rather useful. The mast on the 15 is so light that it isn't so much lifting the weight as a matter of crowd control -- getting the mast into a convenient position with fewer things wrapped around it. BTW: I'm not happy with the tubing. It tends to bend, and when I get round to it I'm thinking of making something heavily influenced by a 2x4.
