Re: M_Boats: 4 Adults on an M17 - What happens?
It's not something I would want to do for very long, but I had an enjoyable sail with 3 adult guests on board this week. There's no place for guest to "get out of the way", so they need to be willing to assist with the jib sheets, etc. You'll want to reef early to keep the boat fairly level because you can't get everybody on the high side and unless they're used to sailing, they won't like the low side if you're heeled too far. The stern will ride lower so you may get some water in the cockpit. If you manage those things, you'll have a good time. The boat still sails very well and sitting 2 per side there's lots of room. You can go 3 on the high side if you need to and still manage the tiller fine. Larry Yake M17, #200 Tullamore On Sun, 1 Aug 2004 07:31:52 -0700 (PDT) Paul Ducham <ducham@yahoo.com> writes:
I'm buying a boat and the M17 has made my short list of candidates.
I would appreciate any insight/experience about how they behave with four adult-sized bodies on board.
Thanks.
