Ron, I use a Ball-Lok Quick-Release pin on my M17 headstay, with a piece of string through the terminal flange to make sure the pricey thing isn't lost while trailering. I have seen no tendency for it to back out, and the ball locks it in the hole if the latter is properly sized.
