I have to admit that I'd always felt I'd overdone the motive power with my Yamaha 4 h.p., but this is quite a litany about the travails of reloading a 2 horse gun. I have to put up with a plastic tank in the aft end of the cockpit (over which I built a wooden bench between the cockpit benches), but it's not space I would have used, anyway. I drilled a gasline-sized hole near the tank and another high on the transom to accommodate the fuel line (extra length to permit rotating the motor for "reverse") and it's always worked well. (This avoided draping it over the transom.) Plus, I can easily pull the tank and take it home (if the boat's in the water) or to a gas station. In these times, if your boat's in a slip or on a mooring, you probably don't want to leave a fuel supply on board anyway.
