Re: M_Boats: deck hull joint leak
Hi all, My M23 does have some moisture issues at the toe rail joint. Last year I removed all the interior wood on the port side and discovered the source of the leak. My solution, and it seems to be working so far this year, was to tighten all the screws holding the toe rail in place AND remove all the sealant between the deck and the tow rail. I then vacuumed out the crevice, and refilled with a generous bead of polysulfide, smoothing with my trusty finger. Another note, the previous owner(s) must have had some of the 'pooling' issues as described, because there are areas of the toe rail where large rectangles were cut out to allow more water to be relieved from the deck area. I'll look and see if I have a photo of this. YES, it's attached, not sure that is possible but we'll see. Notice the gap right at the stanchion base about midship.
