I need to replace the teak motor pads on the transom of my 1980 M17. Have any of you done this? Did you use anything other than teak? Also, how do you protect the top of the transom where the motor rests? Thanks in Advance, Dale
You can use a piece of high density plastic cutting board if you don't want to chase around for a piece of teak. The cutting boards do come in various colors if that is an issue. The top of the transom is tough enough to withstand the motor. On Fri, Jun 25, 2021 at 4:49 PM dalew <dalew@e3digital.com> wrote:

Not sure but you’re taking about a cut out in your transom. Either buy some teak or consider replacing with Starboard. The same material you get from a cutting board at Walmart. It saws easy but you can’t really glue it. It can be bolted on. Bob Sent from my iPad

Dale: If you want lower maintenance and from 10'-15' away looks like teak contact Plasteak. They have HDPE that is very teak looking (from a distance). Send them your old teak pieces and they can duplicate and send you new plastic parts - https://www.plasteak.com/ If you have access to woodworking tools you can make your own. The challenge, if you want teak color, is finding HDPE tinted to your liking. Starboard is quality but their 'moca' color is, IMO, way to brown/chocolate. If white is OK, as already shared, get a plastic cutting board from Wallyworld or Home Depot and chipotle to size. Bed the plastic so water doesn't get under the part. Must be thru bolted as nothing will stay bonded to HDPE. :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: SV SWALLOW - sv-swallow.com :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - m15namedscred.wordpress.com <<-- new site!
