Hello All: thanks for the great advice concerning the use of sealants yesterday. I have another question that I would like the group's input on. I am installing a boarding ladder on the starboard side of my M15 transom which is not reinforced. What thickness backer board would you guys recommend. I am thinking 3/8's plywood. 1/2 inch overkill? Mike Hall M15 #167 Dreki Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T
i suggest you consider a four-point boarding ladder v. a two point. 3/8" should be fine. make it big. use marine grade. coat with epoxy (or similar). if you use an epoxy (or similar) that blushes be sure to wash off the blush before bedding. bed the backing plate to the transom using the boarding ladder's fastening hardware to hold the backing plate in place. be sure you set the location for the ladder so it doesn't conflict with the movement of the rudder. :: Dave Scobie :: Sage Marine --- On Tue, 3/13/12, beowulf2@cox.net <beowulf2@cox.net> wrote:
