Regarding the centerboard of the M23... My 23, which I purchased in rough shape in San Diego, CA and brought to MN had centerboard problems. These were the exact problems that my 17 and others' 17's have had. I spent around $1800 having the problem fixed. I have photos of the "extraction" if anyone is interested. In short, the ballast in my 23 was a combination of lead shot and what appeared to be, scrap metal. I say appears to be, because it was all rusted and such. This expansion of the metal upon corrosion caused to trunk to swell and the board not to move freely. Strangely, the board moved fine in San Diego, but must have swelled upon transport to MN. All is fine and has been since the expert work was completed. Having just returned from a month working in Alaska, I am eager to get on my 23. Stiff Breezes to all! Theo M23 "Sails Increase"
