Well, yes, Connie, that would certainly make you the senior member of the group. But not by as much as you might think! It's a shame you can no longer join in the great adventures. Having you there when we're gathered around the docks in the evening swapping stories would be priceless!

Larry, That's one of the joys of sailing; ..... the adventures you've had; ..... the friends you have met; ....... the places you've seen; .... and your ship is the key that opens that door. Here's a story you can relate during your next cruise: We were on our mooring in West Harbor, Fishers Island, NY in our Tripp-Lentsch 29. Not far from our mooring was a reef, offering the harbor some shelter. During the night we got one of those humongous New England summer thunderstorms. I stuck my head out of the companionway to check that all was well.... It wasn't. Drifting down on us with a dragging anchor was about a 30 foot sailboat, headed directly for the reef. I was able to grab it's railing and hold it. I pounded on the deck. Seconds later up came Nancy. I had her give me a spring line; then a second one; bow and stern lines; fenders; and then their boat as safely tied up alongside ours (our mooring would hold five boats at a time when we rafted up). Meanwhile she was calling to her husband to come up and help. He said it would take a moment, he had to pull on his pants and a shirt..... and shoes. Nancy and I grinned at one another - she in a Baby Doll nightgown - that was instantly soaking wet in the downpour and totally see-through, and I with nothing on...... Finally her husband appeared, pants, shirt, and shoes on, but the panic and danger were gone. Ah, yes, one can meet the prettiest girls in see through Baby Doll nightgowns in the middle of the night in a severe thunderstorm if you are on a sailboat Have you ever met your next door house neighbor that way?
