Steve, Get a ladder. If it's hot, the ability to jump in and cool off makes all the difference, obvious safety considerations aside. Potter 15s often come with little aluminum three rung ladders that fold up against the transom; ours is so equipped. Advantages: Inexpensive, compact, lightweight and trouble free. Disadvantages: Harder to use than more elaborate models because the bottom rung ends up only about 6" below the surface.
