Thanks for the good advice Connie. At this point we're going to meet at Greenville. It's midpoint (450 miles) between Frank, in Ontario and me. I found some sites that list a number of ramps. They also mention something about boat permits. Do you know anything about this and fishing licences and where to buy them?
Was the ramp you used at Rockwood a public facility or was it privately owned by the cottage you stayed in?
Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick, There is a ramp in Greenville, but we had already decided to rent the cottage in Rockwood. (living room, bed room, kitchen and bath). Greenville is a pretty little town with a lot of art galleries. There is also a steamer that leaves Greenville and goes to the northern end of Moosehead Lake. As you enter Greenville, keep an eye open on the right hand side of the lake. Someone there has a DC3 on floats.....! The Rockwood ramp was State owned as far as I recall. We never paid anything to use it, nor to park there. Boat Permits must be something new. I never had to buy a boat permit to sail on Moosehead Lake when we were there. I think you can buy Fishing Licenses at the Greenville sports store. Get on the Internet or contact the Maine Tourist Office for detailed information. I got all sorts of brochures, maps and information from them. Connie
