Clean installation, Gerry. On my 17 I also fashioned a pair of "hold off" blocks and fastened them as far down as possible on the transom beneath the uprights of the ladder so once extended the ladder would be held off the plane of the transom to provide more solid footing since the weight of the person climbing aboard would tend to sink the transom and scoot the ladder rungs further under the boat making them harder to use for someone reacting from an unintentional cold water dunking. Especially if the dunking was also due to rough wave conditions which would be throwing the stern of the boat around. If you go to the MSOG photo site and look up the Monty 17 entitled "AS-IS" you will see the holdoffs I installed on my transom. Also the large access panel I installed inside the cockpit on the aft bulkhead to provide me access to the bolts for the ladder and to check the cockpit drain tubing as well as the gudgeon bolts. I have an M17 so it's a little different, but I fiberglassed some marine plywood inside the hull against the transom to strengthen it, then I put on a telescoping ladder that was on sale at defender on the back. I also added a folding step. It's been tested this summer and works well.

Hi all,
I wish to get and install a transom ladder for my M15 but am not sure how to best mount it. Screw down into top horizontal surface of transom? Long thru-bolts through transom vertical surface into cockpit with a backing plate? Other?
Thanks for your advice,
