I would be careful about a two-stroke in California (and perhaps other states as well). Several lakes and waterways have banned all two-strokes. I am impressed with the new Yamaha four strokes. Honda is one of the few to make an extra long shaft if that is a factor. In any event, I would select a model with an alternator for battery charging purposes.
