I have a Honday 2hp long shaft and am quite happy with it. The only complaint in in a long motoring situation the internal gas tank will only last about 1.24 hrs. Refilling it is a pain. In really big waves and head winds the 3.5 would be more usefull. The M15 does not sail as well with a lot of weight aft. In general I would stay with the 2 hp range or a 2 cycle in a higher hp as long as it was light. Cabin heater: any > experience with an Origo alcohol heater? I thought any form of flaming heater sucked up oxegen and left CO2 - not a good idea. I overnighted last weekend and had frost on the cockpit cushions in the AM. I slept very well with a flannel sleeping bag inside of a summer weight bag with the hatch boards out but the cabin hatch closed. The only time I closed up the hatches and slept in below freezing temps the boat collected frost on the ceiling and it started melting into my face in the AM. > Tender: I am a kayaker and hope to tow my kayak > behind the Mont.15. Would this create too much > drag? I towed an 85lb Bolger light dory on several trips including 2 weeks in Maine. In light airs the drag from any towed device is deadly. In larger waves the dory would serf faster than I could sail and rammed my transom a couple of times. I let out more line and it almost broached. Too much worry. I bought one of the Stearns inflateable kayacks after a posting from CA on the list. It works great and paddles far better than I ever would have thought. A good foot pump has it ready to go in about 5 minutes. Mine is an older version 10 footer at 35 lbs. The new ones are 8 footers at 28 lbs. A nice package. Length - boat and trailer fits nicely into a standard gararge (20 ft long) without the mast - 22'. It will make them jealous as you pass them and make them envious as remove your disguise, convert to sea lice and paddle past them and around the harbor.
