Hi All My Dovekie seems to use prestressed polyester three-strand for halyard and forestay. I plan to replace with same http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/... This is filament, their softspun has a bit more stretch and softer to hand. I am about to order but have not seen the products. They are hard to find in stores. Both share the ability to use traditional splices. Cliff in PA On Wed, Jul 22, 2009 at 7:29 PM, John R. Butler <theoldcat@cox.net> wrote:
Instead of splicing a new halyard to your existing wire halyard, consider replacing the entire line with 44' of 1/4" XLE Polyester double braid available from <www.rwrope.com/> Worked perfectly on Rejoyce! and never sorry I did it.
