I rather like using four small cushions, two Type 4 throwable ones and two small C-Cushion seat-sized ones. I can arrange them for maximum comfort and even sometimes stack them all on the cockpit sole at the front of the footwell where they are high enough that I can sit with my feet in the cabin, leaning against the sides of the companionway. It is a good place to read because you can pull the companionway slide aft for a sunshade over the book. With the fwd hatch open, there is a nice breeze, and it is easy to keep a watch out. A "broad reach", so to speak?
OK all kidding aside, actually on my boat it's the port side that's 15" wide and the starboard side that's 15" wide.
So who had the bigger stern you say? Come clean, now. :-)
