It's a portable Brother machine. I'm not sure it's going to be real happy with the projects I have planned Bill, but we'll see. I've run four layers of Sunbrella through it and it slows down some, but I believe it will work. I'm just now discovering there are specialized machines that are reasonably priced to do this work, but frankly, I can't see doing this for a living any time soon so it'll have to do. I'm going to sew various covers--compass, winch, motor, and probably a shade and various storage bags (segmented for tools, sheets, and like that). I've discovered a source for inexpensive Sunbrella, the only drawback being the material is roll ends from projects, so you have to takes what you can gets for colors. It'll be a grand experiment as I have a reputation for having more thumbs than fingers. t Tom Smith & Jane Van Winkle Sandpoint, Idaho M15-345, Chukar -----Original Message----- From: Wcpritchett@aol.com [mailto:Wcpritchett@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 30, 2003 2:09 PM To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: M_Boats: Thread for canvas/Sunbrella projects Tom, I recently bought a new portable Mercury walking foot sewing machine on ebay for $200 delivered. It's a clone of the straight stitch Sailrite machine and works great on Sunbrella. What type machine are you using and what projects? Bill _____ This message was scanned for viruses!!
