"Daulntless had a CDI Roller furler when we purchased her and like you we
decided to remove. The great thing about CDI's is that no modifications to the forestay need to be made to install them. To remove it just remove the turnbuckle and slide the drum and foil right off. Re-assemble the turnbuckle and you are ready to go. There were two screws on a U-shaped bracket on the bottom of the drum that I had to remove and other than that , that was about it as far as I remember. The next good thing is that there is market for used CDI's. If you don't want it, put it on EBAY. I sold mine for $200 plus shipping and used that money to send my genoa to Ullman Sails and have hanks replaced on the luff."
Good stuff Sean. Thanks for that info. I may end up selling my unit as well. So let me get this part clear. If I leave the mast up, temporarily support the mast with the jib halyard, release the forestay and remove the turnbuckle at the bow fitting....then all that stuff will just slide off?

Good luck,
